Advanced Modular Power Systems (AMPS) was founded to solve one of the oilfield’s most persistent problems: unreliable and inefficient power.

Our Origins

AMPS was spun-off from Arkel International, a global EPC contractor with a legacy dating back to the 1950s. Arkel has completed power and infrastructure projects in some of the world’s most demanding environments, including major contracts with the U.S. State Department, Department of Defense, and leading energy companies.

While operating in Iraq, Arkel managed more than 500 diesel generators for BP to power electric submersible pumps (ESPs). Utilization was low, operating costs were high, and production risks grew as generators failed under the strain. Out of this experience came a critical realization: there had to be a better way to deliver reliable energy. AMPS was founded to make that solution a reality.

Our Focus

AMPS designs and delivers Power Reliability Systems that integrate batteries, inverters, and intelligent controls. These systems improve generator efficiency, reduce fuel consumption, extend asset life, and cut emissions. The result is dependable, cost-effective power for operators who cannot afford downtime.

The company’s first deployments targeted ESPs in the Middle East, where the scale of the challenge and the urgency of the need created a proving ground for the technology. Early results validated the approach, showing near-perfect uptime and measurable reductions in fuel use and maintenance costs.

Our Growth

Building on those results, AMPS has expanded its footprint. Today, the company supports operators across the Middle East, North America with expansion into South America underway. Our solutions now extend beyond ESPs to address localized grid stabilization, man camps, and drilling rigs. Each application is designed around the same principle: delivering reliable, efficient power where it matters most.

Our Future

The global energy landscape is shifting. Demand continues to grow while operators face pressure to cut emissions and deliver power more efficiently. AMPS is positioned at the center of this transition. We are advancing new system designs, developing data-driven monitoring tools, and building partnerships with leading manufacturers and distributors to scale globally.

Our vision is to become the trusted provider of power reliability solutions in Oil & Gas and beyond. By combining innovation with field-tested experience, AMPS is helping operators meet today’s challenges while preparing for tomorrow’s energy needs.
